Blue Earth Area’s Timmy Nagel finds some running room in the Bucs’ football game against Blooming Prairie.

The host Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs took advantage of five Blue Earth Area turnovers on their way to a 32-0 victory over the Buccaneers in football action on Friday, Sept. 12, on the artificial turf in Janesville.

BEA held JWP to three plays and a negative six yards on the Bulldog’s initial drive, but after receiving the punt the Bucs didn’t fare much better and punted the ball right back to their opponent.

JWP’s second drive saw them march the ball 49 yards from their own 40-yard line down to the BEA 11-yard line before turning the ball over on downs.

The Bucs took over and moved the ball across midfield to the Bulldog’s 42-yard line. Facing a fourth down and needing seven yards for a first down, BEA attempted a pass which was intercepted at the JWP 18-yard line.

It only took three plays for the Bulldogs to cover the 82 yards needed for a touchdown. The scoring play came on a 71-yard pass from quarterback Daulton Bauer to Michael Walker on the first play of the second quarter. JWP’s two-point attempt failed but the home team had a 6-0 lead.

The next Buccaneer drive stalled and the Maroon and Gold were forced to punt the ball back to the Bulldogs.

Taking over on their own 44-yard line, JWP was faced with a fourth down needing four yards to advance the chains. The Bulldogs got what they needed and more when Bauer completed a 38-yard pass to Caleb Quast for a touchdown. Once again, the two-point try failed and the Bulldogs led the Bucs 12-0.

JWP added one more score before the half. Another interception left the Bulldogs only four yards away from the end zone. Two running plays later JWP crossed the goal line again. This time the Bulldogs made their two-point conversion to take a 20-0 lead at the half.

The Bulldogs added two more touchdowns in the second half, including a pick-six on another interception to make the final score 32-0.

The statistics showed JWP with 14 first downs to 10 for BEA. The Bulldogs had 307 yards of total offense with 155 of those yards coming on the ground and 152 coming through the air. The Bucs totaled 162 yards with 124 rushing yards and 38 passing yards.

JWP had five interceptions while BEA recovered one Bulldog fumble.

BEA was penalized three times for 15 yards while JWP had four penalties for 55 yards.

John Nelson, Tristan Tungland and Tate Elzenga each had seven tackles for the Bucs. Timmy Nagel had four tackles including one tackle for loss. Parker Stauffer also had a tackle for loss and forced a fumble which was recovered by Peter Fletcher.

Caden Juba rushed the ball 18 times and gained 58 yards. Nagel and Tungland each carried the ball three times. Tungland picked up 12 yards and Nagel gained 11.

Juba was 5-for-12 passing for 37 yards. Fletcher had three receptions for 24 yards.

BEA’s Homecoming game was Friday, Sept. 12 against Hayfield. Look for a story on that game in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.
