Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn found himself in an unusual and painful spotlight during Sunday’s matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Just before halftime, quarterback Marcus Mariota scrambled toward the sideline and was shoved out of bounds by a Raiders defender. The play’s momentum carried Mariota directly into Quinn, who was standing near the boundary line.

The collision looked rough on replay, as Quinn appeared to take Mariota’s shoulder to the face before falling backward and hitting the ground hard. Cameras showed the coach with a bloody nose as trainers quickly moved in to check on him.

Despite the scare, Quinn managed to get back on his feet and walked with the team into the locker room at halftime. Early reports indicate the injury is not serious, though it was enough to leave the veteran coach shaken and bloodied. Known for urging his defenses to deliver hits, Quinn ironically became the one on the receiving end in a freak sideline accident.
