NEW MILFORD, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) – An assistant coach for a Connecticut youth football team was arrested after allegedly pushing a 7-year-old player from the opposing team to the ground during a game.
New Milford Police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Daniel Fazio, who was serving as an assistant coach for the New Milford Bulls during Sunday’s game with the Water-Oak Youth Football Team.
Authorities say the confrontation happened on the field and involved a 7-year-old player from the opposing team. While no injuries were reported, the incident immediately prompted disciplinary action.

The Bulls announced in a statement that Fazio is no longer the boys’ assistant coach, saying “[we] do not condone the recent behavior displayed by our former assistant coach.”
The Bulls say the incident is being investigated.
“We as an organization are deeply disturbed,” read the statement in part. “The behavior of one individual is not representative of the sentiments, moral compass or values of the entirety of the program.”
Fazio was charged with second-degree breach of peace, disorderly conduct and risk of injury to a child. He posted a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 2.
