Was Jalen Carter wearing Jared Verse's chain after the Rams-Eagles game?

After the Los Angeles Rams’ heartbreaking loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, everyone seemed to notice one thing about Jalen Carter’s postgame interview in the locker room: his chain.

Carter was seen rocking a big chain with a No. 8 pendant, which just happens to be the number Jared Verse wears for the Rams. Naturally, fans began to speculate whether Carter got the chain from Verse in a bet on the game.

Here’s a video of Carter wearing the chain in the locker room after the Eagles’ 33-26 win.

It’s especially interesting given the pre-game chat these two players had before kickoff in January. Verse did a lap around Lincoln Financial Field before the playoff game and Carter seemed to take issue with it, sharing some words with the Rams edge rusher.

We don’t know what Carter said but Verse responded by saying, “Nah, I’ll take that 77K for next round,” hinting at the bonus players receive for reaching the NFC title game.

As far as we can tell, there’s no visual evidence that the chain belongs (or belonged) to Verse. We can’t find any photos on the internet of Verse wearing it, though that doesn’t mean it wasn’t his.

What we do know is Carter didn’t get the chain from Verse after Sunday’s game. He was spotted wearing it walking into the stadium, as seen in the third photo in the Eagles’ post below.

The two players seem to be on perfectly good terms, dapping each other up before Sunday’s matchup. There doesn’t appear to be any bad blood, but that also doesn’t mean there wasn’t a bet on last year’s playoff game that Verse lost.

Either Verse lost his chain in a bet on the playoff game in January or Carter simply owns a chain with the No. 8. After all, he did wear No. 88 in college and wears No. 98 in the NFL, so it’s possible he just likes the number 8.

Until we get further clarification from either player, we won’t know the full story. But either way, Carter had the chain on before kickoff so he didn’t get it from Verse this weekend.
