The Carolina Panthers met up with a familiar face on Monday.
Per the league transaction wire, the Panthers hosted wide receiver Dan Chisena for a visit. The 28-year-old veteran, who signed a one-year deal with Carolina this past spring, was waived by the team back on July 29.
Chisena spent the 2024 campaign with the Panthers. He played in six games, with 81 of his 100 total snaps coming on special teams.
A calf injury would land Chisena on the active/physically unable to perform list before training camp. He was waived with an injury settlement eight days later, with his spot being filled by rookie wide receiver Ja’seem Reed.
Carolina may soon have room on the active roster following Sunday’s injury to tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders. MRI results on Sanders, according to Joe Person of The Athletic, revealed a high-ankle sprain—which was sustained in the fourth quarter of the 30-0 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
