The Arizona Cardinals appear likely to be down another offensive starter as they face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4 on a short week. Already down running back James Conner, lost for the season to a foot injury that needs surgery, and perhaps left tackle Paris Johnson, who missed Sunday’s game with a knee injury, receiver Zay Jones is likely out as well.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon revealed Monday that Jones is in concussion protocol because of the final offensive play on Sunday. Jones failed to control a third-down that would have give the Cardinals a first down and allowed them to likely run out the clock for a win. It was on that play he sustained the head injury. It went unreported at the end of the game.

Because the Cardinals will only have walkthroughs this week, Jones won’t be able to clear the stages of the concussion protocol. A player must rest until he is symptom-free, then remain symptom-free after a working out, then again after practicing with no contact and then a full practice. He won’t be able to demonstrate he is symptom-free after practicing.
Without Jones, Greg Dortch will move up to the No. 3 receiver spot, with potentially Simi Fehoko or Xavier Weaver getting some offensive playing time.
The Cardinals and Seahawks kick off Thursday night at 8:15 p.m. ET (5:15 p.m. Arizona time) from State Farm Stadium.
