New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel admits that Terrell Williams’ availability is still up in the air, but he confirmed that the defensive coordinator would continue to help the team, as he battles ongoing health issues.

Williams has been away from the team since Week 2, and Mike Vrabel once again turned over the defensive playcalling duties to inside linebackers coach Zack Kuhr.

The health issues have lingered since the spring practices for Williams. He also collapsed during a training camp practice back in August, when he was treated for dehydration. Kuhr has stepped up admirably in the playcalling role. He earned a game ball after the Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins, and the Patriots’ defense played well in the Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

One has to wonder what Williams’ future looks like in New England this season.

Is there a chance that Kuhr becomes the permanent playcaller? Switching playcallers on the fly could be tough on the defense. But it would obviously be great to see Williams return to full health and coach the defense in games.
