LSU football went all out in building its 2025 roster. LSU finished 2024 with three straight wins, but a 9-4 record fell short of expectations in Baton Rouge. Eyeing a return to the College Football Playoff, LSU assembled the top ranked transfer portal class in the country. LSU also took steps to ensure key players returned, such as QB Garrett Nussmeier and leading receiver Aaron Anderson.
The talent level in Baton Rouge is back where it should be, and hopes are high entering 2025.

This roster has several players who are all-conference caliber. Between proven veterans and potential breakouts, LSU hopes to see a handful of Tigers on the All-SEC team come December. Today, we’ll rank the five LSU players with the best chance to reach that status.
If five players from Kelly’s squad are first-team All-SEC, we’re probably looking at an LSU team gearing up for a playoff run.
Here are the five Tigers with the best chance to be All-SEC in 2025.
Garrett Nussmeier, Quarterback
We’ll start with the quarterback who’s had plenty of buzz this offseason. Nussmeier is among the favorites for the 2025 Heisman Trophy and is seen as a potential first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

If Nussmeier has the season LSU expects, he won’t fly under the radar. Nussmeier’s arm can make all the throws and the mental aspect started to click down the stretch in 2024. With another full offseason as the starter, Nussmeier has the chance to put it all together.
It’s a good year for quarterbacks, meaning Nussmeier will have some stiff competition. Arch Manning should have a strong All-SEC case, too. But Nussmeier has the experience and the talent to be the best quarterback in the conference.
Whit Weeks, Linebacker
Part of making the All-SEC team is name recognition and Weeks has that after a breakout 2024.

Weeks ranked second among SEC linebackers with 56 stops and 25 pressures. He missed spring practice after suffering an injury in LSU’s bowl win, but Weeks is expected to be full-go when LSU returns for fall camp.
Weeks is a dynamic linebacker with playmaking ability. If he puts up those numbers again, he’ll be a first-team All-SEC linebacker.
Caden Durham, Running back
As a true freshman, Durham surpassed 1,000 total yards in 2024, despite dealing with a foot injury and an inconsistent offensive line.
Durham is back for more in 2025.
He was one of the top-ranked running back recruits in his class and can run between the tackles or catch it out of the backfield. Those are the type of running backs that find their way onto the All-SEC team.
Mansoor Delane, Cornerback
Delane was a key transfer addition to the LSU secondary. The Tigers missed experience on the backend, especially with Zy Alexander moving on to the NFL. In three years at Virginia Tech, Delane made 29 starts. Just what LSU needed.

He was a third-team selection All-ACC in 2024, ranking No. 7 among ACC corners in completion rate allowed. Offenses threw at Delane, but he did a good job limiting the damage.
Now playing in the SEC, Delane has a chance to be the leader of LSU’s secondary. If Delane assumes that role in Blake Baker’s defense and the unit takes a step forward, he’ll get all-conference looks.
Aaron Anderson and Barion Brown, Wide receiver
I’m cheating here picking two wide receivers, but both have strong cases. Anderson and Brown have two ways on to the All-SEC team. Of course, they could make it as a receiver, but don’t rule out the all-purpose spot either.

Anderson and Brown are dynamic kick returners. If either has a big year on special teams, paired with a strong season at receiver, they’ll get AP votes.
LSU doesn’t have a true No. 1 wideout at the moment. Anderson was the Tigers’ leading receiver in 2024, but he can’t play on the outside like Brown can. Both are playmakers, though. And both have a chance at 1,000 yard seasons. If either player can reach that mark in this offense, they’ll be an All-SEC selection.
