New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees had quite the debut on ESPN’s “First Take” this Tuesday morning.
Brees had an incredible NFL career, completing 67.7% of his passes for 80,358 yards and 571 touchdowns. He was a 13-time Pro Bowler who led the Saints to their first and only Super Bowl title. There’s no question he’ll be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

After retiring from the NFL in 2021, Brees agreed to a broadcasting gig with NBC. That partnership only lasted for one season. It wasn’t until December 2024 that he returned to the spotlight to be a studio analyst for Netflix’s presentation for the NFL’s Christmas Day games.

Fast forward to September 2025, where Brees has officially joined ESPN’s long roster of NFL contributors.
According to Barrett Media, ESPN has signed Brees as weekly contributor on “First Take.” It’s a non-exclusive agreement for both parties.

Brees should be a great fit for “First Take.”
During this Tuesday’s episode of “First Take,” Brees went viral online for calling the Philadelphia Eagles “boring.” He certainly knows a thing or two about playing in high-powered offenses.
“I respect Philly – they are finding ways to win games. I can’t stand to watch that offense,” Brees said. “It’s the most boring offense.”
Even though Brees isn’t a fan of Philadelphia’s offense, he said the defending champions could “absolutely” win another Super Bowl with this formula.

Brees isn’t the only media member who has criticized the Eagles this season. Longtime play-by-play broadcaster Al Michaels took a clear shot at them during a Week 3 “Thursday Night Football” game.
“Some teams are good but not particularly interesting,” Michaels said. “The Buffalo Bills are a great team to watch.”
If the Eagles start lighting up the boxscore on offense, their fans might just call out Brees and Michaels.
