Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile appears to have a unique way to get his messaging across to the players and have them ready to play each week.

Appearing on the ‘Up & Adams Show’ with Kay Adams, defensive tackle Arik Armstead was asked whether or not Campanile shows videos of Jaguars hunting in team meetings.

Armstead confirmed that it was the case.

“He has some hunting videos of Jaguars hunting in the wild,” Armstead told Adams. “Camp is a maniac, but also at the same time, he’s not always a maniac. I know his family, his wife, everybody.”

Armstead then continued, “He is a maniac, for sure. The intensity that he brings. He’s obsessive, and you definitely appreciate that as a coach. And we as players are obsessive as well, but coaches are a little more obsessive.”

Whatever Campanile is doing, it’s working for this Jaguars team.

For the first time in team history, the Jaguars have recorded three straight games with three takeaways to start this season. This is a far cry from the struggles the defense had in that regard last year.

In addition to that, the Jaguars rank fifth in points per game allowed and eighth in yards per play.

Under Campanile, this is a zone-heavy defense on the back end, with all eyes on the quarterback, which can help put players in a position to break and make plays on the ball.

Up front, this is an attacking defense, where it is all about getting off the ball and going. We’ve also seen more blitzes mixed in and varied looks from the secondary.

But beyond the Xs and Os, since arriving in Jacksonville, Campanile has discussed the importance of this defense having the right play style. You can really see that in how this unit swarms to the ball carrier or pass catcher on every play.
