The Indianapolis Colts reportedly worked out a former mid-round draft pick on Tuesday.

According to Jake Arthur of the Roundtable Network, the Colts had cornerback Troy Pride in for a workout.

Pride is a former fourth-round draft pick out of Notre Dame. He was selected by Carolina in the 2020 NFL draft and has never been able to find his footing.

As a rookie, Pride would play 529 snaps, allowing 27 receptions on 36 targets for 14.1 yards per catch with one pass breakup and four penalties, per PFF.

Since then, Pride has bounced around and played just 58 total defensive snaps, all of which came last season with Dallas.

The Colts are navigating another injury in the secondary currently. After Jaylon Jones was placed on IR recently, Kenny Moore is now reportedly going to miss a few weeks as well.

However, to bolster their nickel depth, the Colts have already signed Mike Hilton to the practice squad.

If the Colts were to sign Pride, it would be to the practice squad, but what exactly his potential role might be isn’t exactly clear.

More than likely, this would be GM Chris Ballard churning the back end of the roster like he always does and betting on Pride’s potential that others haven’t been able to tap into.

At this time, we do not know if a signing is imminent. This could be another example of the Colts building out their in-season contact list, which is made up of players they can call on if in a pinch.
