With six offensive linemen on injured reserve and another on the physically-unable-to-perform list, the Miami Dolphins signed two offensive linemen for their practice squad on Tuesday, including former UAB tackle Kadeem Telfort.
The offensive linemen on Miami’s injured reserve include opening-game starters James Daniels and Austin Jackson, the right guard and right tackle, respectively.
The Dolphins also added offensive lineman Roy Mbaeteka on Tuesday.
Telfort had been a free agent since the Green Bay Packers waived him on Aug. 26, when they reduced their 90-man preseason roster to the regular-season limit of 53 active players.
The signing is a homecoming for Telfort, who is a graduate of Miami’s Booker T. Washington High School.
Each NFL team can have a practice squad of 16 players. Members of the practice squad do everything the players on the active roster do except play in games. But two practice-squad members can be elevated to active status for each game, although no player can be elevated from the practice squad more than three times in a season.

Telfort received All-Conference USA recognition for his play as UAB’s left tackle in 2022.
On Feb. 21, 2023, the Birmingham Stallions chose Telfort with the seventh selection in the inaugural USFL college draft.
Telfort did not sign with the Stallions, but after being bypassed in the 2023 NFL Draft, he signed as an undrafted rookie with Green Bay on May 5, 2023.
Telfort spent the 2023 NFL season on the Packers’ practice squad, and Green Bay re-signed him to a reserve/future contract on Jan. 22, 2024.
During the 2024 season, Telfort played in 16 regular-season games for Green Bay, mainly as a special-teamer. He had 79 special-teams plays. Telfort played 23 offensive snaps spread across four games.
But in the Packers’ 22-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the NFC playoffs, Telfort played 39 offensive snaps at left guard after Elgton Jenkins left the game because of a shoulder injury.
The Dolphins play the New York Jets at 6:15 p.m. CDT Monday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. ESPN will televise the game.
