The New York Jets are addressing their secondary with a mid-season trade with the Tennessee Titans.
The Jets (0-3) have acquired cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in a deal with the Titans (0-3).
In exchange for Brownlee, New York sent Tennessee a sixth-round pick and also received a seventh rounder. Both of those draft selections are for the 2026 NFL draft.
The trade was reported on Tuesday, including by The Athletic:
Brownlee, 24, started the first two games of the Titans’ season and did so most of his rookie year in 2024. He started 14 of 17 games played last year and all of his starts came in the final 14 contests Tennessee played during his rookie season.
Brownlee, a fifth-round selection in 2024 by the Titans, missed Tennessee’s Week 3 contest with an ankle injury.
The Green and White have struggled defensively through the first three games of the 2025 season. Brownlee could provide some instant competition for starting cornerback Brandon Stephens, who has struggled early this year.
A breakdown of Brownlee’s season so far in 2025 was provided by our friends at Titans Wire, which can be found below:
Although he was the team’s leading tackler heading into the matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, Brownlee was off to a rough start to the season in coverage, being called for multiple penalties over the first two weeks of the season while allowing eight completions on 10 targets for 59 yards and a touchdown over two games. He missed Week 3 after suffering an ankle injury during practice and was seen in a walking boot on Sunday.
Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2025 season.
