INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Colts are off to a 3-0 start and have won two of those games by over 20 points.

Running back Jonathan Taylor is having one of the best stretches of his career, and has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week in each of the past two weeks.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen detailed the team’s mentality as the look to start the season with four straight wins.

“It’s that day one mentality of like, shoot I got hired,” Steichen said. “You’re excited. I said that to the players, it’s day one. Remember the first day you got drafted, remember the first time you took that field, that feeling you had, we can’t lose that feeling and it’s got to be laser focused all the time.”

There is a buzz around Indianapolis with the Colts off to their best start in 16 years.

“I think any time you have momentum early in the season, the biggest thing is keeping that momentum, and that’s why I go back to that day one mentality and taking it one day at a time, because we know this is a long season,” Steichen said. “We’re excited about where we’re at, but again, it’s the process that we have to go through each and every week to get done what we need to get done.”

Colts injury updates

Steichen said wide receiver Alec Pierce (concussion) and cornerback Kenny Moore II (calf/Achilles) would not practice on Wednesday.

Steichen added that after they did more research on Moore’s injury, it was more in the Achilles than in the calf. He said they’ll see how the week goes with him. Steichen later clarified that IR (injury reserve) is not a possibility for Moore right now.

The Colts (3-0) will look to continue their hot start to the season on the road against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.

The Colts have lost four straight games against the Rams. Their last win came in 2009, when the Rams were in St. Louis.
