The 2025 Bucs have been given the baptism by fire treatment through the weeks of the season. The team has had to lead a last-minute, game-winning drive. Doing it against teams with a combined record of 1-8 is not ideal, but starting undefeated against any three teams in the NFL is no easy feat.

What has also not been easy in recent years has been the Bucs keeping their hot hand going all year long.

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles was asked how he plans to prevent his team from experiencing a midseason slump in 2025. The team has struggled with those in recent years, and avoiding them could make the difference for them between a wild-card birth and being the top seed with a bye.

Bowles said, “That remains to be seen, but most of it is just maturity level. Again, the injuries and everything else play a part, and it’s tough to win in this league. Everybody is going to get better as the weeks go on and kind of pin down what they do best and what they can do best, and they get more film on you and get to see you a little bit more. Our focus has got to be there each and every week. The healthier we are, the better we are – as with everybody else.”

The Bucs are getting healthier as they head into the second month of the season, rather than being injured. The team is expected to get back both Tristan Wirfs and Chris Godwin this week. Those two heavy hitters should help the team avoid a midseason slump upon their return.
