Priest Holmes to lead Arrowhead drum tradition before Chiefs-Ravens game Sunday

A NUMBER OF THINGS THAT ARE NEEDED FOR THE VICTIMS THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN PLACE WITH THE FLOODS IN KERRVILLE. FORMER CHIEFS PRO BOWLER PRIEST HOLMES IS TALKING ABOUT THESE TWO SEMI TRACTOR TRAILERS FILLED WITH SUPPLIES FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY LAST WEEK’S FLOODS. INITIALLY, WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE DEVASTATION, I COULDN’T EVEN IMAGINE HOW TO REALLY GET INVOLVED INITIALLY WHEN I THOUGHT ABOUT IT. WHEN YOU’RE JUST THINKING ABOUT ALL THE LIVES THAT WERE TAKEN FOR HOMES, THE FLOOD STRIKING CLOSE TO HIS HOMETOWN. SO HE CALLED UP THE CHIEFS AMBASSADORS AND GOT HELP FROM ALL OVER, INCLUDING KANSAS CITY AND OVERLAND PARK, TO COLLECT SUPPLIES TO GET TO KERRVILLE, TEXAS, AS SOON AS HE COULD. BEEN AN INCREDIBLE THING IN JUST IN LESS THAN EIGHT DAYS, WE’VE BEEN ABLE TO GATHER TOGETHER SOME INCREDIBLE SUPPLIES. THE POPULAR FORMER CHIEFS RUNNING BACK SAYS THE MESSAGE OF HIS FOUNDATION IS TO HELP WHENEVER HE CAN. HE SAYS SATURDAY MORNING THEY DELIVERED LOADS OF WATER, BLANKETS, SLIPPERS, BLEACH, FOOD AND EVEN SUPPLIES TO HELP A LOCAL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT THAT LOST EVERYTHING. THEY LOST ALL OF THEIR UNIFORMS. THEY LOST THEIR SUPPLIES. SO WHEN YOU THINK OF FIREFIGHTERS GOING IN AND HELPING YOU, THEY COULDN’T EVEN RESPOND, HE ADDS. IT TAKES THE SEED THAT’S PLANTED. WE CAN GATHER TOGETHER AND BRING SO MANY RESOURCES TOGETHER. HE SAYS THE NEXT STEP IN THE HEALING. Former Chiefs running back Priest Holmes will return is the drum honoree before the matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.A Chiefs Hall of Famer, he played seven seasons in Kansas City. He was an All-Pro three times and made multiple Pro Bowls while as a Chief. During his time in Kansas City, he ran for 6,070 yards and 76 touchdowns. He also featured in the passing game, finishing with 2,377 receiving yards and seven receiving scores.Holmes will bang the ceremonial drum to fire up the crowd shortly before the 3:25 p.m. start.He also has a tie to the Chiefs’ opponent this weekend. Holmes played four seasons in Baltimore from 1997 to 2000 before signing with the Chiefs.
