KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Chiefs are hopeful second-year wide receiver Xavier Worthy can return to the football field later this week when they play the Baltimore Ravens.
And when he returns, Worthy is hopeful he and the Chiefs can create some explosive plays to help give back to the community.
Worthy and Torchy’s Tacos have partnered for a “Torch the Defense,” promotion that scores fans a buy-one, get-one taco deal at any Torchy’s whenever the Chiefs create a 30-yard play. For each redeemed deal, $1 will be donated to Worthy’s Worthy 1 Foundation, which supports single mothers, families and youth in Kansas City, Austin, Texas, and Fresno, California.
“My mom made a lot of sacrifices for me and my sisters,” Worthy said in a release shared by Torchy’s, “and it was important to me to honor her and give back to families that looked like mine. The Worthy 1’s is how I do that. Having Torchy’s join forces with the Chiefs makes this impact even bigger.”
Worthy has been listed as a full participant in both Wednesday and Thursday practices for the Chiefs. He hasn’t been on the field since the third play of the season, when he dislocated his shoulder crashing into tight end Travis Kelce while running a route.
