Cleveland Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders is many things but lacking in confidence is certainly not one of them.
Sanders has been riding the bench as the Browns’ third-string QB this season after going to them in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. But while he may be a third-string QB on a team ranked in the bottom half of the league, Sanders is still fairly certain that he could play anywhere.

“I know if you see the quarterback play in the league right now, I know I’m capable of doing better than that,” Sanders declared at one point.
As you might expect, social media quickly let him have it. Some fans countered his boast by pointing out his preseason stats while others simply admonished him for coming off as arrogant:
“Shedeur Sanders had the slowest time to throw in the NFL this preseason (3.96 seconds PFF). The slowest time to throw in the regular season through week 3 is 3.37 seconds (PFF). Good Luck,” one user remarked on X.

“He’s capable of holding the ball for ages and getting sacked repeatedly,” another mocked.
“If you’re that good you wouldn’t need to tell anyone. Just put the work in and make the most of your opportunity when it comes,” a third complained.
Wrong or No?
Others argued that he’s not wrong and that he can’t be that much worse than some of the QBs that have started games this year. Still others hope he gest his chance to prove the doubters wrong:

“He’s better than Jake Browning and that’s a fact!” one user declared on X.
“This not even a crazy thing to say. Outside of the top 5-10 qbs in the league the qb play has been mid.”
“You gotta believe you can win to win . You gotta have faith to take a losing program to winning. The piece the browns are missing To win… is faith and belief. They better adopt a faith mindset as a team if they want to begin dominating competition!”

Through three weeks there has been some admittedly terrible quarterback play across the league. Sanders might be just as good as some of the 48 QBs who have thrown a pass this year.
Then again, Sanders had an entire offseason to separate himself from the likes of Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. If he couldn’t do it then, it’s going to be a tough sell to the Browns that he can do it now.
