Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander, Wife Expecting 14th Child

Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander announced he and his wife are expecting their 14th child during an appearance on Up & Adams on Thursday (September 24).

“We’re just now starting to tell people, but No. 14 is in the belly,” Alexander told host Kay Adams.

Alexander, 48, who spent the majority of his career with the Seattle Seahawks, which included winning the 2005 Associated Press MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year awards, and his wife, Valerie, have 12 living children, as well as one who died unexpectedly at two months of age. The former running back announced the Seahawks’ third-round selection of fellow former University of Alabama standout Jalen Milroe at the 2025 NFL Draft earlier this year, having attended the event with two of his sons.

Alexander was selected by the Seahawks at No. 19 overall in the first-round of the 2000 NFL Draft and spent his first eight seasons with the franchise, having been selected as a two-time First-team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler, while leading the NFL in rushing yards and touchdowns — the latter of which he also accomplished in 2001 — during his MVP season in 2005. The Kentucky native spent his final NFL season with the now-Washington Commanders in 2008.

wizarding world of Harry Potter because Barrett’s Alehouse in West Bridgewater is bringing the magic to customers with its new themed redesign.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The restaurant has transformed itself into a wizard’s wonderland based upon the Harry Potter books and movies, a tradition they do every Halloween season.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>“We just wanted to do something bigger and better than everyone else,” said General Manager Bianca Fontes.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Floating candles and pumpkins, giant spiders and Hogwarts house banners have been strung around the restaurant as well as plenty of other decorative references that will excite Potter fans.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>“We have our fireplace all set up, we have our dragon, our troll, so we’ve been purchasing little things here and there as we see them, but it’s been quite an adventure putting everything together,” said Fontes.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Besides their dedication to the décor, the restaurant also serves multiple themed drinks that are inspired by the pages of the books.  \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>“We have a Firewhisky drink, a Golden Snitch Spark as well, a Whomping Willow,” said Fontes.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The redesign will run until Halloween, and the restaurant will host multiple Harry Potter themed brunches, workshops and trivia games throughout the next month.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>“It’s just a magical enchanted place remains of over a thousand parishioners, but the real selling point might be a cursed brick. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The brick was sent to church in March, along with a typed note that read: “My husband took this from the crypt. We have had a string of bad luck and we want to return the brick.”\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The package didn’t have a return address, a name or any other information. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>“We don’t know when they took the brick, what kind of misfortune they encountered, but I think from the way they sent it back, you get a real sense of their fear,” said Emily Spence, education director of Old North Illuminated.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>After the initial confusion, staff at the church thought there was only one thing to do. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>“We decided that the brick needed to be returned to the crypt and treated with the utmost respect, so that the bad luck would end for all of us,” Spence said. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>They also thought the brick’s origins might interest people. Spence said people coming down to the crypt tend to want to hear spooky, supernatural tales.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>“We just thought, this is too good a story not to tell,” Spence said. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The brick now sits in a clear case in the crypt, along with a sign explaining how the church acquired it.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Spence said they’ve posted on social media encouraging whoever sent the brick to come forward, but to no avail. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>It’s up to interpretation whether or not the brick is actually cursed. Spence said not much has changed, but there have been a few suspicious happenings here and there. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>“Not once, but two times, the lights stopped working,” Spence said. “In my memory of working here at Old North, that hasn’t happened before.”\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Along with being an attraction for visitors, Spence said the brick serves as a lesson in karma. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>“We Bourque played for the Boston Bruins from 1979 to 2000.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"This event is a big one for us," Bourque said. "It’s been great. off the side of his business this past Labor Day weekend. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The mural depicted a futuristic rendering of Central Square. It was printed on a screen and bolted to the arcade’s exterior wall. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"We spent so much time working with the artist to curate this specifically for Central Square," owner Sean Hope said. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Dx Arcade opened on Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge in February. Hope said the timing of the theft was particularly disheartening because the business is still growing. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"The students are back, so this is really our time to interact with a whole new customer base," Hope said. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The mural had received some criticism because the artist used artificial intelligence in its creation, but Hope said he was blindsided by the theft nonetheless. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"I really thought if someone didn’t like it, they might just spray paint a tag on it," Hope said. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>There still haven’t been any arrests connected to the theft, but Cambridge police are investigating. Applegreen has pulled out of deal with MassDOT to renovate and run 18 highway service plazas in Massachusetts.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Applegreen originally won a bid against local company Global Partners for a lease on 18 highway service plazas owned by MassDOT. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>According to \u003ca href=\”https://www.applegreen.com/massachusetts/\” target=\”_blank\”>Applegreen’s website\u003c/a>, they planned to invest $750 million into the project. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Many Massachusetts residents think these plazas need the update and have complaints about their current condition. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>One resident referenced the bathrooms, and said they were "horrible," and "nasty." Another resident said the inside was "scarce, a lot of empty space," and not well utilized. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>In a statement to CBS News Boston, Applegreen said they were unable to reach an agreement with MassDOT. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>"After three months of good faith negotiations, Applegreen and MassDOT have not reached agreement on definitive terms for the redevelopment of 18 motorway service areas in Massachusetts," Applegreen said. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Applegreen also cited legal costs as a contributing factor to their termination of their lease discussions with MassDOT, due to Global Partners challenging MassDOT’s decision in court. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>After losing the bid, Global Partners filed a lawsuit against MassDOT on Sept. 15, asking a Suffolk Superior Court judge to block the 35-year contract with Applegreen.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Employees of Global Partners demonstrated outside the Menino Convention Center on Sept. 16, demanding MassDOT hold a rebid for the
