While many might be concerned about Tom Brady’s possible conflict of interest as a Las Vegas Raiders minority owner and FOX broadcaster, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell isn’t one of them.
The fear is that since Brady gets to sit in on production meetings before each broadcast, he is getting to see things that could potentially give the Raiders an unfair advantage throughout the season. But according to Goodell, it’s up to the team regarding what information they give Brady.

“Teams have the right to say whatever they want,” Goodell told CNBC’s Alex Sherman. “They don’t have to disclose information if they think it’s a conflict of interest. We have a lot of former players in those meetings who are close to their former teams. Our clubs are smart enough to say, ‘I’m not sharing something with him.’”
And with that, Goodell also stressed that Brady’s access isn’t enough to truly alter the game.
“Where’s the conflict? He’s not hanging around in the facilities,” the NFL commissioner added. “We don’t allow that.”

Tom Brady Addresses Conflict of Interest Claims
In his weekly newsletter, Tom Brady spoke out about these claims regarding a potential conflict of interest, defending himself and his ability to do both jobs.
“I love football. At its core, it is a game of principles. And with all the success it has given me, I feel I have a moral and ethical duty to the sport; which is why the point where my roles in it intersect is not actually a point of conflict, despite what the paranoid and distrustful might believe,” Brady wrote. “Rather, it’s the place from which my ethical duty emerges: to grow, evolve, and improve the game that has given me everything.”

He went on to explain that as a broadcaster, he aims to “help create a great viewing experience by drawing on the deep well of knowledge and wisdom I have gained from playing high-level football for nearly thirty years.” And then, as a partner in the Raiders, he is looking to “refresh and reinvigorate the culture of a franchise with cherished traditions and a long, storied history in professional football.”
