A Buffalo Bills fan has suffered a double loss, having gotten smoked by Sauce Garner on social media and then being ordered to pay him over $50,000 after suing him for it.
The New York Jets cornerback went viral last year after installing a golf simulator in his house. He shared a photo of the equipment used to put it together in a tweet, which has since been deleted, asking,“Do I even have to say what I’m getting built at my new house?”
A Bills fan named Kalli Mariakis replied to the tweet, suggesting“A simulator to teach you how not to commit pass interference or defensive holding.”
The barb earned a response from the CB, who claimed she had DMd him the link to her OnlyFans account.
Kalli had to deny having an OF account and then proceeded to sue both Gardner and Barstool Sports after the site published an article titled: “If You’re a Married OnlyFans Model Who’s Been DMing Sauce Gardner, You’d Be Wise Not to Troll Him About His Coverage Skill,” which has since been deleted.
Sauce Gardner Vindicated After “Trolling”
Gardner, who had something to say about another female Bills fan and her husband around that same time, was taken to task, with Mariakis citing emotional distress.
According to Sportico, she claimed that“acquaintances, friends, family, co-workers and the public at large”made reference to the tweet, filing a defamation of character suit.
The NFL star’s lawyer argued that his client was simply “trolling,” claiming it was posted via a platform on which “readers have a reduced expectation of truth.”
As it turns out, Sauce had some trouble on a more truthful platform, too.
Anyhoo, the sitting judge agreed that Sauce Gardner should not be held liable for any distress caused. But that wasn’t enough; the CB asked to be paid the expenses incurred.
The judge would order Mariakis to pay Gardner $51,636.45.
Definitely not the outcome she was expecting.
