The Washington Commanders will be without quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin for Sunday’s Week 4 showdown against the Atlanta Falcons.

Daniels will miss his second consecutive game as he continues his recovery from a sprained knee he suffered in a Week 2 loss at Green Bay. McLaurin will miss his first game since he missed one game in the 2020 season. He’s dealing with a quad injury he suffered in last week’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

“He’s working incredibly hard, round the clock to get back,” head coach Dan Quinn said about Daniels on Friday. “Ultimately, doctors haven’t cleared him just yet. He’s absolutely doing everything he possibly can.”

What about McLaurin?

“Yeah, it’s a quad injury, just again, working as hard as he can to come back from it, and he’s putting all the work in,” Quinn said. “So, I would say he’s week-to-week as we’re hitting it and see what next week brings and where he is at. And most people know that when it turns, then it goes quicker. So, we’ll just see where he gets into by next week.”

Daniels and McLaurin are big losses for Washington. Fortunately, the Commanders have Marcus Mariota to step in for Daniels. In more bad news, Daniels and McLaurin aren’t the only players out for Sunday’s game.

Out: QB Jayden Daniels (knee), WR Terry McLaurin (quad), TE John Bates (calf/groin), WR Noah Brown (knee/groin)

Questionable: RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (knee), S Percy Butler (hip)

Atlanta Falcons

Out: CB A.J. Terrell (hamstring), RB Nate Carter (hamstring), WR KhaDarel Hodge (groin)

Terrell is Atlanta’s most significant injury concern. He’s not only the Falcons’ top cornerback, he’s arguably their best defensive player.
