Friday marked two-thirds of the way through the high school football regular season. With the campaign winding toward the home stretch, Adams Central and Leo put together convincing performances in respective home wins over South Adams and Bellmont.
The Flying Jets were fueled by a 21-point second quarter in their 35-7 victory versus the rival Starfires.
During that sensational second stanza, Jami Roach found the end zone twice. Sandwiched in between the Roach scores was a Vance Miller touchdown.
Adams Central carried a 28-0 lead into halftime.
The count became 35-0 when Thomas Laughlin broke off a long touchdown run in the third quarter.
Leo took a sizable lead early against Bellmont thanks to three first-quarter touchdown runs by Nate Foster.
Those touchdowns, coupled with a safety that came on a punting miscue by Bellmont, allowed the Lions to build up a 23-0 lead before the first quarter came to an end.
The Lions added two touchdowns to their lead in the second quarter. They scored 10 more points after halftime to finish off a 47-0 victory in Leo-Cedarville.
