The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers have a showdown on the way this weekend on “Sunday Night Football” at AT&T Stadium.

The game will be extra heated because it marks the first time these teams are playing each other since former Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons was traded to Green Bay right before the star of the season.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones seemed to have no issue with trading Parsons — one of the best defensive ends in the league — to the Packers, but one former Green Bay star is cautioning Jones about another similar move that could be on the horizon.

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey became something of a hero during the team’s Week 2 win against the New York Giants. At the end of the contest, Aubrey became the first player in the history of the NFL to make both a game-tying field goal with no time left in regulation and a game-winning field goal with no time left in overtime.

Players like Aubrey don’t come around often, and former Green Bay Packers legend Mason Crosby, the team’s all-time leading scorer, knows that. So, Crosby is cautioning Jones not to let Aubrey walk.

During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Thursday, Crosby urged Jones to pay Aubrey and lock him in to a long-term extension, which will be exorbitantly cheaper than the one Parsons was looking for.

“Jerry Jones, you get rid of Micah Parsons, but hey, you need to pay (Aubrey) because he’s going to set a new market for what kickers’ worth is just because his ability to shorten that field,” Crosby commented.

Aubrey is certainly one of the best kickers in the league, and Crosby is wise to point out that Jones better not sleep on this one. The Cowboys’ last star kicker was Dan Bailey, who was with Dallas from 2011–2017, but it looks as if Aubrey will ultimately surpass him as the best kicker in franchise history.

When it comes to who will win Sunday’s game, even the Cowboys’ news staff is unanimously going with the Packers. Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys’ website notes that the Packers’ defense “has given up the least amount of points per game this season and was super charged with the addition of Micah Parsons via trade from the Cowboys.”

Yarrish adds: “That unit is firing on all cylinders and with the Cowboys set to be down CeeDee Lamb, Tyler Booker and Cooper Beebe on Sunday night, it does not appear to be a setting where they would show any signs of slowing down. It may be another long night.”

His final prediction for Sunday’s game is a 35-10 win for the Packers.
