The first month of the 2025 NFL season isn’t in the books just yet, but there are already a few head coaches feeling the heat.
During the 2024 regular season, the New York Jets parted ways with Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start. Less than a month later, the New Orleans Saints fired Dennis Allen. The third and final coach fired mid-season was Matt Eberflus. The Chicago Bears relieved him of his duties after a Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions.

While it’s still early in the 2025 season, there’s a chance a head coach could be fired very soon.

Mike McDaniel is firmly on the hot seat.
Believe it or not, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was on the hot seat after a Week 1 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Things haven’t improved much since then. His team fell short to the New England Patriots in Week 2 and lost 31-21 to the Buffalo Bills in Week 3.
With Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill clearly not on the same page, it’s fair to wonder how many more losses McDaniel can withstand.

The Dolphins will face the New York Jets on Monday night. We’ll see if they can pick up their first win of the season and take some pressure off McDaniel.

Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan takes questions after their 41-20 loss against the Indianapolis Colts at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025.
Brian Callahan might not get a third year.
The Tennessee Titans were clearly entering a rebuild when they hired Brian Callahan. After going just 3-14 during the 2024 season, he had the chance to pick his quarterback of the future in Cam Ward.
Even though Ward’s talent is undeniable, the Titans have looked extremely sloppy through three games. In Week 3, they had eight penalties and gave up four sacks against the Colts.

Callahan doesn’t need to lead the Titans to a playoff berth this season, but he can’t afford to go 3-14 again.

Brian Daboll is running out of time.
According to Pat Leonard of NY Daily News, Giants general manager Joe Schoen “seems to be more protected by ownership” than Brian Daboll. That might cause friction behind the scenes.
“Daboll seems to clearly see that,” Leonard said. “And in the last few days, he has started to air out the organization’s dirty laundry.”

When the Giants initially hired Daboll, he seemed to be the perfect candidate to get the franchise back on track. Since making the playoffs in 2022, he has failed to own a winning record. In fact, he’s 9-28 since the start of the 2023 season.
If rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart fails to resurrect New York’s offense, Daboll could find himself looking for a new job.
