Derek Stingley Jr. is officially on watch for Sunday afternoon.

The Houston Texans‘ All-Pro cornerback is listed as questionable for Sunday’s home game against the Tennessee Titans due to an oblique injury, per the team’s injury report. He did not practice all week, but will test his body before ruling him one way or another ahead of Week 4’s showdown.

Stingle, who inked a three-year extension this offseason, left the game in the first quarter while defending receiver Brian Thomas Jr. in a 17-10 loss against the Jaguars last Sunday. After a stop, he came over to the sidelines grabbing his left side.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said he tried to “push through” the injury but couldn’t go. The Texans ruled him out midway through the third quarter.

Earlier this week, Ryans said that Stingley would be “day-to-day,” in his evaluation. He was unable to participate fully with the team at any point this week, but given that practice on Friday was a walkthrough, perhaps Houston held him out just to keep him fresh for Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, the Texans elevated Myles Bryant and D’Angelo Ross to the active roster for a second straight week. That’s not a great sign for Stingely, but it’s not the end all be all, since Bryant can also play safety.

The Texans are already thin in the secondary with Jaylin Smith on the injured reserve. The Texans also released C.J. Gardner-Johnson after three games, putting a massive hole at safety with Jimmie Ward on the PUP list.

Kickoff is scheduled at noon CT.
