This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith about his partnership with Crown Royal, the Official Whisky of the NFL. He discusses the highly anticipated matchup later today against the Baltimore Ravens and the urgency for both teams to succeed.

“I think both of these teams have huge aspirations. I think when you start looking at the division, though, and their road to the playoffs, certainly, I think Baltimore’s is, I don’t want to say easier, but not as competitive.” said Smith, “I think they’re, given the landscape of their division, they could lose and still be right in the thick of it. I’m not sure if that’s the case for the Chiefs, but the (Los Angeles) Chargers are off to a strong start, and Denver is also a very good football team. It will be very competitive.”

“So these early games, I think they will have consequences, not just for the division, but the potential Wild Card as well, down the line, and again. So they’re both feeling the pressure, no doubt, again, to win this week. I think, even more importantly, this is a bit of a rivalry between these two teams. I feel like the last 5-6 years, it has come down to one play late in the game,” said Smith, “I was fortunate enough to attend this game last year, the kickoff game of the NFL season. It came down to a toenail; it’s two of the most exciting quarterbacks in football, obviously, incredibly talented rosters. They seem like they play each other every single year. A fantastic game for Crown Royal to pick to have the rig to come out and to celebrate this, because I think there will be a lot of eyeballs around the country watching this, because they just never seem to fail to deliver on an unbelievable football game.”

Award-winning whisky brand Crown Royal is proudly returning for its fifth year as the Official Whisky Sponsor of the NFL, once again hitting the road and driving generosity nationwide with the iconic Crown Royal Rig.
