NFL Week 3 overreactions
USA Today’s Lorenzo Reyes breaks down the biggest NFL storylines from Week 3.
Sports Seriously
The Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns meet on Sunday afternoon in a Week 4 matchup, and both are looking to keep the good vibes rolling into Week 5.
Detroit is coming off a road victory over the Baltimore Ravens, a 38-30 shootout that potentially cemented that the Lions are just as ferocious as they’ve been in recent years. While there are still kinks to be worked out, especially defensively, Dan Campbell and his two new coordinators have the Lions looking like legitimate contenders in the NFC again.
In the AFC, the Browns picked up their first win of the season in Week 3, a bowling-shoe ugly 13-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Kicker Andre Szmyt drilled a 55-yard walk-off field goal to give the Browns the victory.
Still, the Browns face several questions. While the defense seems to be legitimate, the offense needs work, and that starts with who is under center. Joe Flacco hasn’t exactly lit scoreboards up to this point in the season, leading some Cleveland faithful to begin calling for a change under center.
If, at some point, the Browns decide to make a quarterback change, it’ll probably be Dillon Gabriel, who’s currently QB2 on the depth chart. But Shedeur Sanders still looms, meaning any QB move at the top means it’s a second-hand closer to Shedeur time.
Can the Browns take another surprise road victory this week, or will Detroit hang another eye-popping number on the scoreboard? Here’s where you can watch the matchup.
