The Chicago Bears are coming into Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders with a chance to resurrect their once-dead-looking season.

A second consecutive win would put them in the driver’s seat for the rest of the way. Sitting at 2-2 at the bye week certainly sounds better than 1-3, especially after losing the first two to division rivals in Weeks 1 and 2. Everyone on the Bears must perform to the best of their ability if they want to win. There are a handful of players who must go above and beyond to make sure this happens in favor of Chicago.

These aren’t the five best players on the team, necessarily, but the five that must have a close eye on them during this specific match against the Raiders:

QB Caleb Williams

The Bears need Caleb Williams to play well to win. Chances are that he is on this list every single week. When the franchise QB is on a team in the third-largest market in the biggest American pro sports league, there are going to be eyes on you. Last week against the Dallas Cowboys, Williams had a career day with four passing touchdowns, no interceptions, no sacks and a 142.6 passer rating. He sprayed the ball all over the field and looked composed while doing so. Will he be able to do it again in Week 4? We shall see.

WR Rome Odunze

One of the biggest beneficiaries of Caleb Williams’ emergence is second-year wide receiver Rome Odunze. So far this year, he is looking every bit like the top-10 pick the Bears made him in 2024. Right now, Odunze’s four touchdown receptions are tied for the most in the NFL, and he is a top-15 receiver per the stats. If Odunze keeps this up, and continues to develop his own game, he may be even better than that. Against the Raiders, Odunze should be able to make an impact, as long as Williams is kept protected as well as he was against Dallas.

OT Theo Benedet or Ozzy Trapilo

The Bears ruled out right tackle Darnell Wright for Sunday’s game. The former 10th overall pick suffered an elbow injury in last Sunday’s win, and he somehow managed to finish the game. That means it’ll be Theo Benedet (or rookie Ozzy Trapilo) starting in his spot. Benedet or Trapilo need to have a good showing for the sake of the football team, so eyes will be on whoever gets the starting nod. With Maxx Crosby preparing to make a difference, Chicago’s offensive line must be ready.

DE Montez Sweat

The Bears were hoping that a healthy Montez Sweat would at least resemble the level of production that Crosby brings to the Raiders. He’s not even close to that level right now though. Last week against the Cowboys, he had his first sack of the season, but it was late in the game once it was already done. You’d like to watch Sweat make a difference on every drive in some way, shape, or form, but it hasn’t happened yet. Watch him this week to see if there is a difference in his effort or overall play.

LB Tremaine Edmunds

Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds had his best game as a Bear last week against the Cowboys, where he totaled 15 tackles and two interceptions while being a key factor in stopping both the pass and run game that made him look like the guy the Bears were hoping to get when he was brought in. Without T.J. Edwards (out with a hamstring injury), Chicago needs guys to step up. Honestly, Edmunds was not the guy expected to be the impact player at this stage, but he was great. Now, we have to watch to see if he can do it again against a Raiders team that may or may not struggle moving the football anyway. Edmunds can go on a nice run of good play, which would make his overall contract look much better for the Bears. Would they sign that deal again? Probably not. He is there, though, so they might as well watch to see if last week is something that he can build on for a better future.
