The Buffalo Bills have gotten off to a hot start to begin the 2025 NFL season. Entering Week 4 action against the New Orleans Saints, they held a 3-0 record and are looking to remain undefeated in a game that they should win.

Ahead of the start of the season, the Bills faced a major contract situation with running back James Cook.

Cook wanted a new deal and Buffalo wasn’t willing to cave to his demands quickly. However, the two sides were able to come together on a new contract will pay him $48 million over the next four years.

Keeping him in town was a major need for the Bills. Cook has become a huge part of the offense and fits perfectly alongside of superstar quarterback Josh Allen. Thankfully, they were able to get a deal done.

James Cook, Buffalo Bills

Heading into Week 4 against the Saints, Cook had already started making the franchise happy for its decision to give him a new contract. He had run for 284 yards and four touchdowns on 53 carries, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Also, he had caught nine passes for 71 yards out of the backfield.

In today’s matchup against New Orleans, Cook ran his way into the franchise history books for Buffalo.

As shared by the Bills’ PR account on X, Cook has set the new franchise record for consecutive games with a rushing touchdown. He has now accomplished that feat in eight straight games.

“James Cook rushes it in for a touchdown for the eighth consecutive game, marking a new Bills franchise record,” the post read.

At the time of this writing, Cook has turned in another big game on the ground so far. In the first half against the Saints, he has carried the football nine times for 41 yards and a touchdown.

With his new deal now in place, Cook will be a huge part of Buffalo’s pursuit of a championship for years to come. He is just 26 years old and is just now entering his prime. If he can continue playing as he has over the last couple of years, the contract the Bills gave him will end up looking like a major steal.
