The Eagles got the win on Sunday, improving to 4-0 on the season, but all does not appear to be well in Philadelphia.
A.J. Brown, the Eagles’ No. 1 wide receiver, has not been treated like some of his equals across the league so far this season. Brown had two catches for 7 yards in Sunday’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Ole Miss Rebels star has just 14 catches for 151 yards and one touchdown on the season.

While the Eagles have been stacking up wins – they’re coming off a Super Bowl 59 victory, after all – many have speculated about Brown’s future in Philadelphia. Could a trade be coming? Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd thinks so.
“Keep your eye on Philadelphia and A.J. Brown,” Cowherd said. “The last 20 games, nobody has run the ball more than Philadelphia. The soul of the offense is Saquon Barkley, the offensive line and Jalen Hurts. I would argue they use tight ends about as effectively as everyone else.”

On Sunday, the trade rumors continued, as Brown shared a not-so-subtle message on X, formerly known as Twitter, immediately following the win.

“If you are not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw,” the post from Brown read on social media.
“Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way.”
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter was quick to react to the post, retweeting it onto his feed, in front of his 11.6 million followers.

The Eagles say Brown is a priority, though the numbers say otherwise
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has said that getting the ball to Brown is a priority, though the numbers say otherwise.

“There’s no secret about it, we always want to get the ball to six [Smith] and 11 [Brown] and we’re always trying to, so we will do an even better job as coaches trying to make sure that happens. That obviously starts with me, but what I do think that we were on offense was very efficient,” Nick Sirianni told reporters earlier this season. “The ball was moving forward consistently. We didn’t have a lot of negative plays. I believe we had one sack, not a lot of penalties on offense, and the ball moved forward, and so we were efficient.”
Brown has 28 targets on the season. For example, here’s how other top NFL wide receivers stack up this season:
CeeDee Lamb, 24 targets in just two games
Justin Jefferson, 31 targets in four games
Ja’Marr Chase, 27 targets in three games
Puka Nacua, 29 targets in three games
Malik Nabers, 32 targets in three games
While Brown stacks up targets-wise, his receiving yards and touchdowns are nowhere close to the top of the rankings. Brown is outside of the Top 40 in receiving yards and outside of the Top 50 in catches.

It’s tough to see the Eagles trading Brown, but at this point, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him ask out.
