It took four quarters, but the Houston Texans finally were able secure a win.
Behind a two-touchdown day from C.J. Stroud, the Texans dismantled the Tennessee Titans in Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season, 26-0, at NRG Stadium, ending their three-game losing streak. Stroud threw for 223 yards and completed a season-high 68 percent of his pass attempts.
The defense delivered for Houston against Cam Ward while setting up the offense to deliver in the fourth quarter. The scoring started with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Stroud to rookie Woody Marks to make it 12-0.
On the next play following a Derek Stingley Jr. interception, Stroud found rookie receiver Jayden Higgins for a 24-yard touchdown with 9:26 remaining in the game.
Marks, who rushed for over 70 yards, finished the scoring with an 18-yard TD run with just under five minutes remaining.
With the win, the Texans move to 1-3 on the season, but very well could be sitting at 4-0 with just a few blips trending their way. The Titans fall to 0-4 and lose their 13th consecutive game under Brian Callahan.
How did we get here though? Texans Wire has got you covered live from NRG Stadium. Follow along through the afternoon as Houston hits the road next Sunday.
So nice, Woody Marks scored twice. The Houston Texans running back scored his second touchdown, this time on an 18-yard run, to put the Texans up 26-0 with 4:51 left. This game is over.
First Woody Marks, now Jayden Higgins. The Texans’ rookie receiver broke free downfield for a 23-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud, making it 19-0 in favor of Houston.
Welcome to the NFL, Cam Ward. Derek Stingely is always lurking and waiting for his first pick of the regular season.
A pitch-and-catch from C.J. Stroud to Woody Marks for a 12-yard touchdown might be enough to secure a win over the Titans at home. The Texans went for two to make it a two-score game, but a failed conversion on a pass to Chrisitan Kirk kept the score a 12-0.
L’Jarius Sneed said he had no idea who Nico Collins was going into Sunday’s game. He knows who the Pro Bowl receiver is now after a gain of 39 on what could have been a third-down stop.
Well, that’s a bummer. The Texans found some offensive success to begin the second half, but fell short on third down. DeMeco Ryans and the offense could have gone for it on fourth-and-3, but instead trusted Ka’imi Fairbairn’s leg to make the 54-yard field goal.
That was a bad idea since the ball was wide right. The Titans will have the ball at their 44-yard line and could be driving.
The Texans are up 6-0, but they’re losing in terms of showing any offensive spark. Two bad sacks against C.J. Stroud put the Texans in a third-and-long situation with just under two minutes remaining. Nico Collins came up with a reception, but after further review, he was out of bounds, thus leading to a 4th-and-17.
The Texans’ offense has no life, but at least the same belongs for Tennessee.
Oh look, another three-and-out for the Titans offense. It’s bad in Nashville, but is it about to be worse for the Texans’ passing attack?
Well, can’t win them all. C.J. Stroud’s inability to create separation in the passing attack, plus the limited ground game, has the Texans taking a three-and-out.
Danielle Hunter’s second sack of the season came at the best time. With the Titans’ offense finding some success, Hunter’s takedown of Cam Ward for a loss of seven yards gave Houston the ball at midfield.
The run game is finally in motion for Houston behind the rookie out of USC. Marks took off for two big runs, including a pickup of 16 at midfield. A third-down stop by Tennessee sent Ka’imi Fairbairn out for his second field goal of the afternoon.
It’s 6-0 Houston.
Houston leads 3-0 entering the second quarter.
Three bad play calls and the Texans get the ball back on offense.
The Texans strike first with a 41-yard field goal from Ka’imi Fairbairn. Houston’s offensive line struggled to establish the ground game, but C.J. Stroud found Dalton Schultz for a pair of first downs and an eventual third down connection to Christian Kirk.
The Texans avoid a horrendous start by the defense with a third-down stop inside Houston’s territory against No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. Joey Slye lined up for the 41-yard field goal, but the kick went wide right, giving the Texans the ball at the 31-yard line.
