Following their resounding 26-0 shutout loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, the Tennessee Titans reconvened at their facility on Monday to execute minor adjustments to their practice squad roster. The team signed cornerback Alex Johnson and running back Blake Watson, bolstering depth in key positions amid ongoing NFL roster changes.
Johnson, originally signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent from UCLA following the 2024 NFL draft, joined the Indianapolis Colts‘ practice squad last season. However, he was unexpectedly released during this year’s final roster cuts to 53 players.

During the preseason, Johnson demonstrated impressive performance, earning a Pro Football Focus coverage grade of 90.3 and an overall grade of 86.8 across 101 snaps in three games, showcasing reliable coverage skills.
Similarly, Watson entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2024, signing with the Denver Broncos and alternating between their active roster and practice squad. He appeared in two regular-season games, accumulating four carries for 10 yards.
Watson was waived with an injury settlement during final roster reductions after sustaining a PCL strain in the preseason finale.
To accommodate Johnson and Watson, the Titans parted ways with recently acquired running back Raheem Blackshear and offensive lineman Andrew Rupcich.
These practice squad additions are unlikely to be the Titans’ final moves this week. Running back Tyjae Spears, who has seemingly recovered from a high ankle sprain, is expected to have his 21-day practice window activated by the organization.
