Matt Campbell discusses Jeremiah Cooper, other Iowa State injuries

Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell shares an update on Jeremiah Cooper’s injury status, other injuries suffered against Arizona.

Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season is in the books, and several former Iowa State football players had huge hands in the performances of their teams.

The collection of ex-Cyclones in the NFL continues to grow, with several more added to rosters this season after having around a dozen consistently active last season. While star-studded names like Breece Hall, Allen Lazard and David Montgomery dominate the alumni list, several others who Iowa State fans will recognize are making significant impacts at the pro level, too.

With that, here are a few ex-Cyclones who stood out in Week 4 of the NFL season.

Jayden Higgins, Houston Texans WR

The Texans desperately needed to get right against the hapless Tennessee Titans, and Higgins helped them do so in Houston’s 26-0 win.

The former Iowa State wide receiver hauled in a 24-yard grab for his first NFL touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. The end zone visit handed Houston a commanding 19-0 lead.

We’ll see if Higgins’ role expands moving forward. He has five catches for 89 yards on the season.

Breece Hall, New York Jets RB

It’s been a disastrous start to the season for the New York Jets, but Hall is trying to make the best of it with consistent production.

As part of the Monday Night Football doubleheader, the former Iowa State running back had 14 carries for 81 yards and five catches for 30 yards in the Jets’ 27-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

So when will Hall and the Jets get their first win of the year? They’ll try next week against the Dallas Cowboys.

Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers QB

Although most didn’t predict a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Purdy still had a decent day in the loss.

The former Iowa State quarterback finished 22-for-38 for 309 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while also adding two carries for 13 yards.

Purdy was injured in the loss and reported more toe soreness postgame. He and the 49ers will look to get right next week in a short week against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football.
