The Seattle Seahawks entered the 2025 season with the intention of fielding a run-heavy offense. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has been establishing that identity through Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet. The Seahawks keep running into the same recurring issue, however.

Seattle has an NFL-high 33 runs that gained one-or-fewer yards, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson. Walker has 15 such runs; Charbonnet has 13, so it’s not an exclusive issue to one ball-carrier. Walker and Charbonnet combined for under 4.0 yards per carry in Thursday Night Football’s primetime Week 4 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

The Seahawks currently rank 18th in rushing. They’re averaging 110.8 ground yards per game. It’s an issue Mike Macdonald will attempt to address throughout this mini bye-week after playing on Thursday.

Meanwhile Sam Darnold and the passing offense ranks 13th. That’s despite attempting the second-fewest passes in the NFL (103). They are leading the league in yards per pass attempt (8.9). The passing attack has been significantly more efficient.

Seattle’s 123 rushing attempts is fourth-most in the NFL. Walker and Charbonnet have combined for five rushing touchdowns through four games, so at least the ground-game is reaching the end zone with consistency. For Kubiak’s ground-and-pound attack to achieve maximum results, the Seahawks need to cut down on rushing attempts that get stuffed at or behind the line of scrimmage.
