The Carolina Panthers may have already filled one of the two empty spots on their active roster.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the Panthers are signing rookie safety Trevian Thomas from their practice squad.

Thomas played his college ball at Arkansas State University from 2020 to 2024. Over his five seasons there, the Americus, Ga. native totaled 257 combined tackles (six for a loss), eight interceptions and nine passes defensed in 61 games.
He signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent this past spring. Thomas went on to appear in all three preseason games for Carolina, amassing six tackles over 40 defensive snaps.
On Tuesday, the Panthers waived outside linebacker and 2023 third-round pick DJ Johnson as well as rookie wide receiver Dalevon Campbell. Thomas, upon his official signing, would fill one of those two voids on the 53-man roster.
