NFC South standings: Falcons were only team in division to secure a win in Week 4
The Atlanta Falcons defeated the Washington Commanders in a 34-27 shootout on Sunday to secure their second win of the season. After sleepwalking through their Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers, the Falcons woke up and played with a sense of desperation in Week 4.
Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. heard the criticism and responded with one of his best games as a pro. Penix went 20-for-26 for 313 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception. While Atlanta took care of business on Sunday, the same can’t be said for the rest of the NFC South.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles to drop to 3-1 on the season. The Panthers failed to duplicate last week’s performance against Atlanta, losing a 42-13 blowout to the New England Patriots. Carolina is now 1-3, sitting third place in the NFC South.
Then there were the New Orleans Saints. While nobody expected the Saints to be good this year, Sunday’s 31-19 loss to the Buffalo Bills dropped New Orleans to 0-4 on the season. Check out the updated NFC South standings below going into Week 5 below.
