The Tennessee Titans have dealt with some serious injury issues early in the season that have contributed in at least a small part to the team’s 0-4 start, and that’ll carry into the Week 5 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Titans (0-4) visit the Cardinals (2-2) at State Farm Stadium on Oct. 5 (3:05 p.m. CT, CBS). Notable Titans injuries heading into the game include right tackle JC Latham, safety Kevin Winston Jr. and running back Tyjae Spears, who could be elevated off injured reserve to finally start his season after an August ankle injury.
Several Titans players are banged-up to some degree, though few have clear-cut designations. The team will release injury reports on Oct. 1, 2 and 3, and coach Brian Callahan will address the media on Oct. 1 and 3 with injury updates.
Here is the latest on the Titans’ injury report ahead of the upcoming game against the Cardinals.
JC Latham, RT, hip
Latham has been out since Week 1 with a hip injury initially suffered in preseason camp. The injury has been described as muscular, meaning there’s nothing the Titans can really do by ways of surgical repair. Rest is all that’s needed, and Latham has had plenty of it, missing practice each of the past two weeks.
Kevin Winston Jr., S, hamstring
Winston, the Titans’ third-round pick, has yet to debut; the team has taken the long game with his hamstring and recovery from last year’s ACL surgery. He has been practicing in a limited capacity since the season started. He initially tweaked the hamstring before the first preseason game.
Kevin Zeitler, G, elbow/bicep
Zeitler played last week despite spending two weeks on the injury report with an arm injury.
Tyjae Spears, RB, ankle
The Titans have opened Spears’ window to return from injured reserve. He now has 21 days to be activated, or else he’ll revert back to injured reserve for the rest of the season. Spears has looked as if he’s progressing nicely with his health in recent weeks, moving well on side fields during practice.
Kalel Mullings, RB, ankle
Mullings has been on and off the injury report with a nagging ankle injury since the preseason. He did not play in Week 4.
Bryce Oliver, WR, knee
Oliver has been dealing with a knee injury for two weeks. The core special teamer did not play in Week 4.
T’Vondre Sweat, DT, ankle
Sweat was placed on injured reserve ahead of the Colts game. The second-year defensive tackle will have to miss at least three more games before he can be elevated.
