The Cincinnati Bengals need all the help they can get, following two embarrassing losses in a row. Hardly anything has gone right for them on either side of the ball, and a string of injuries hasn’t helped their case.

Ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions, Head coach Zac Taylor gave an update on first-round defensive end Shemar Stewart that seems to be encouraging after Stewart (ankle) missed the last two games.

Taylor didn’t guarantee that Stewart will play, but it does sound like he has a chance.

“We’ll manage through the week, but he’s progressing along,” Taylor said of Stewart’s availability. “We’ll see if he can go this week. I couldn’t give a great answer to that one right now.”

Stewart hasn’t been a rookie of the year candidate, but he has had some positive impacts on games to this point, and with the lack of penetration from the defensive line, they can use all of the help they can get.

Coming off a Monday night game, the Bengals will hold a light walkthrough on Wednesday night as they begin to install their game plan for a Detroit team that has started to find its stride.

The Bengals and Lions will kick off Sunday at 4:25 PM ET.
