Teammate Cam Skattebo presented Dart with the award and doused him in Nickelodeon’s signature green slime. In the win, Dart threw for 111 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for a 15-yard score.
It’s better to give than to receive, especially if it’s a grotesquely gooey award.
On Sept. 26, the New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo presented his fellow rookie teammate and quarterback, Jaxson Dart, the Nickelodeon “NVP” (Nickelodeon’s Valuable Player) award for Week 4.
The former Arizona State football standout not only gave Nickelodeon’s orange blimp-logo trophy to Dart, but also had two Giants teammates pour the kids’ TV channel’s trademark green slime on Dart’s head.
In Dart’s first start, he led the Giants (1-3) to their first win, at home against the Los Angeles Chargers, 21-18. He replaced the struggling veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, who was benched following their 22-9 home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3.
“Congratulations, you are this week’s NVP,” Skattebo said to Dart as they exchanged smiles. “You know what that means.”
Skattebo then doused Dart.
Dart went 13-of-20 for 111 yards and a touchdown, and ran for 54 yards on 10 carries, including a 15-yard rushing touchdown early in the first quarter that put New York ahead, 7-0.
Skattebo’s block during that QB draw play helped open the gap for Dart to easily run up the middle to the end zone.
Skattebo continued to impress through Week 4. He ran for 79 yards on 25 attempts and added 11 yards from two receptions during the win over L.A.
Skattebo was handed the NFL Network’s “Angry Run” scepter/trophy for his NFL debut in Week 1 when the New York Giants’ 21-6 loss at the Washington Commanders on Sept 7.
