The days leading up to the Detroit Lions’ Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns were filled with more than just football chatter. Whispers began circulating that star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown had been up late into the night before kickoff, and was locked into a marathon session of NBA 2K26 until 4 AM.

However, despite the swirling speculations, St. Brown went on to deliver a standout performance on game day, leaving fans both impressed and curious about whether the rumors were true.

A video surfaced on Overtime of someone catching St. Brown on the court in NBA 2K26. The name was clearly the same as the Lions’ wide receiver, though there was no concrete evidence that the 25-year-old was actually the one playing the video game.

He could only laugh about the situation when his brother, Equanimeous St. Brown, brought it up during a podcast. “You know I can’t confirm or deny if I was on 2K at 4 a.m.,” he said. “I do love playing 2K, though…You could definitely say it was a trap game, but we came out on top. We got the dub.”

While the gaming talk made headlines, St. Brown’s on-field production is what truly mattered. The Lions’ top target has been in elite form through the first month of the season. He entered Week 4 with 20 receptions for 237 yards and four touchdowns, then followed it up with another strong outing against Cleveland, hauling in seven catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns in Detroit’s dominant 34–10 victory.

The Browns kept things competitive through three quarters, but the Lions slammed the door in the fourth, scoring twice to secure their third straight win. St. Brown’s performance once again highlighted why he has quickly become one of the league’s most dangerous receivers.

After recording just four receptions for 45 yards in the season opener, St. Brown has bounced back strong and recorded six touchdowns in the last three games, and is ranked third on PFSN’s WRi Impact metric with an impact score of 91.8. His contributions have helped the Lions overturn a 0-1 start to 3-1, with the team ranking fourth in PFSN’s Offensive Impact metric.

The Lions made a statement in Week 2 after being embarrassed by the Packers on opening weekend. Their 31-point win over Chicago couldn’t have come at a better time, and they followed it up with a stellar eight-point win over Baltimore before beating the Browns on Sunday. Jared Goff’s efficiency is also one of the many reasons St. Brown has been as good as he has. As it stands, Goff is ranked sixth and has an A- grade in PFSN’s QB Impact.
