The Jets brought in former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields to get things turned around and start fresh after two seasons of a failed Aaron Rodgers experiment.
Unfortunately, New York is 0-4 to start the season, and Fields has struggled mightily in must-throw situations. Now, the burden on Fields arms is set to increase, according to one prominent league insider.
“Jets HC Aaron Glenn said RB Braelon Allen is dealing with a “pretty serious” knee injury and he’s getting a second opinion to get further clarity. Allen suffered the injury on a kickoff return,” reported Jordan Schultz on Twitter on Wednesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Seem to see a lot of injuries on kick returns and none on the tush push. maybe teams need to get kick returns banned, since it’s a safety issue,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Why He was doing kick off returns is beyond my imagination what the hell are they thinking ,you start a faster , more athletic, and not one of your 1. -2 running backs combo!” someone else added.
“Dudes got potential to be a great back in the league, hoping for a speedy recovery,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Allen is able to make it back this season.
