ASHBURN, Va. (7News) — It’s back to the drawing board for the Washington Commanders.
Tough loss last week in Atlanta. Another road trip this week, flying out to the West Coast to battle the L.A. Chargers.

The Washington defense has to play better. It was gashed against the Falcons, allowing too many chunk plays.
If Atlanta quarterback Michael Penix Jr. had that much success, it could be a long day at the office for the Commanders’ defense trying to slow down Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.
“A lot of confidence. I think there’s a lot of progress on third down,” Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said. “I thought in two games the energy and the intensity are where I hoped they would be in pass rush, and the two others not so much. That gives me a good sense of what I know it can look like.”
While most of the attention this week is on the Washington defense, there is a strong belief that Jayden Daniels will be back on the field for Sunday’s game.
Daniels has missed the last two games with a knee injury. He has been medically cleared and practiced in full on Wednesday with his teammates. Adding an extra layer, Daniels grew up 40 minutes outside of Los Angeles.

Sunday’s game against the Chargers would be a special homecoming for Daniels and his family.
“Just a steadfast approach to it. To put the work in and say he’s got to do all the things to get better,” Quinn said. “Once you get over the top of that, the throwing, the movements, that’s what we saw in terms of the work to get better. He’s definitely chomping at the bit to get going.”
Sunday’s game in Los Angeles will kick off at 4:25 pm.
