Travis Kelce could have a position waiting for him after he hangs up his cleats, despite stating that he is taking his career season by season as he continues to progress in age.
The Kansas City Chiefs‘ star tight end is in the twilight of his career, with the 35-year-old showing signs of decline. Still, he remains an integral part of the team’s chances to win another championship, especially as Kansas City looks to capitalize on the remaining years of the Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes tandem.
When the star does decide to call it a career, he might have a position waiting for him at ESPN. A transition to ESPN could pair him with his older brother, Jason Kelce, who has been one of the main faces of the network’s coverage of the NFL.

“He’s fantastic,” Jimmy Pitaro, the Chairperson of ESPN, said to the Daily Mail on the red carpet at the 2025 Broadcasting+ Cable Hall of Fame night when asked his thoughts of Travis Kelce. Of note, Pitaro was the recipient of the Chairman’s Award.
“He’s still playing, his brother retired, but Travis is still playing and I wish him all the best for the rest of the season. He’s obviously a needle-mover, I know his podcast is doing incredibly well.”
Pitaro added, “We’d love to talk to Travis when he’s ready. One of our priorities at ESPN is audience expansion and that really means attracting a younger audience.” In the same vein, Pitaro noted that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship has had a discernible impact on the NFL as a whole.

“[Travis and Taylor] are able to do that and they’ve been great for the sport… great for the game of football, great for the NFL, and they’ve been great for the enterprises that carry the NFL,” the ESPN boss continued. “We’re all excited to see what that’s like going forward.”
Should ESPN offer Travis Kelce a contract, he could potentially join his older brother, Jason Kelce, on the network. Speaking on the Philadelphia Eagles legend, Pitaro lauded the job the 37-year-old has done so far.
“We love Jason Kelce; he does fantastic work for us,” Pitaro said to The Daily Mail. “He’s now on ‘Monday Night Countdown.’ We believe we’re at our best when we offer a combination of substance and humor – that’s really Jason.

“He brings it. He does the work, he shows up prepared, he’s incredibly knowledgeable… one of the most knowledgeable football experts in the industry, so we’re very fortunate to have him.
“At the same time, he brings some levity, he brings humor, he brings charm, he brings charisma, and I believe he makes us better. We’re all in on Jason Kelce.”
And while ESPN would like to have the Kelce brothers on the network, it remains to be seen what Travis Kelce will do moving forward, despite his decline. When asked if this season would be his last, the Chiefs star remained mum on his thoughts and plans past this year.
“For who? For me? Man, it’s the last one on the contract right now. But I’ll tell you what, I’m feeling young and I’m feeling ready to rock, baby,” he said before the season.
