When it comes to the Cincinnati Bengals and the NFL trade deadline, most of the speculation focuses on the quarterback position in the aftermath of the Joe Burrow injury and massive struggles for Jake Browning.

But there will inevitably be other players worth a look from the Bengals near the deadline.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox says the Bengals will be a fit for Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Mazi Smith, who continues to struggle getting on the field:

“He did play 15 defensive snaps after playing 18 in Week 3, but he was a healthy scratch in each of the Cowboys’ first two games. It’s clear that he simply doesn’t have much long-term value in Dallas, especially for a new regime.”

Duke Tobin and the Bengals’ poor drafting has helped them be horrendous up front this year. There’s still hope for former second-rounder Kris Jenkins, but former third-rounder McKinnley Jackson has struggled to be on the active roster for games and free agents Mike Pennel and TJ Slaton aren’t having big impacts.

Smith, the 26th pick in 2023, might interest the Bengals. But whether they want to spend assets to bring abroad another project that might backfire very much remains to be seen.
