As we prepare for the Las Vegas Raiders to visit the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, it seems many fans would rather have the Colts quarterback than their own.

Both veteran quarterbacks Geno Smith and Daniel Jones are acquired this offseason.

The Raiders traded a third-round draft pick to the Seattle Seahawks for Smith and then gave the 35-year-old a a two-year contract extension worth $75 million with $66.5 million in guaranteed money. Jones signed with the Colts as a free agent on a one-year, $14 million deal.

So far, Jones has worked out much better for the Colts than Smith has for the Raiders. Jones has led the Colts to a surprising 3-1 record and he has completed 71.9 percent of his passes and has thrown just two interceptions. Meanwhile, Smith leads the NFL with seven interceptions thrown and has struggled in the past three games, all losses for the 1-3 Raiders.

We asked our community members this week which quarterback would they rather have leading the Silver and Black.

It wasn’t close as three quarters of the voters would rather have Jones than Smith.

It’s not a surprise. Recency bias is a thing. The truth is, before the season, many Raiders fans would be upset if they signed Jones instead of trading for Smith.

Perhaps after Sunday’s game, Smith will change some minds.

Yeeeaaahhhhh

Going off player history. Smith is the easy pick tho. This is the worst Geno has played since early in his career. He simply needs to get his shit together. Geno is better than this. I say we ride out with Geno and our record will reveal our needed move. If he continues playing like this he’ll have us in prime position to draft a QB. If we are not, draft o-line and get Geno better protection.

Indy!

Saw the poll results and felt bad for Geo. Then I remembered the 3 INT games. 🙂 Let’s be real- if we had Jones he’d be sucking too.

Definitely Jones. Younger, bigger, better runner, playing much better this year, and cheaper. Chip Kelly’s not helping, however, with his stale play calling. The OL’a been a work in progress, which is probably being overly kind.

In hindsight it’s obvious. But at the time the decision was being made there would have been chaos on this board if Spy announced we were rolling with Jones. And at the end of the season, we’ll revisit again. Meanwhile, let’s see if the OL, the running game, and a healthy TE (least one of our two) help Gino turn it around.
