With Alec Pierce out for the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 5 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, who should you start at wide receiver in your fantasy football lineup this Sunday?

Well, while neither Tyler Warren nor Josh Downs is a direct replacement for what Pierce brings to the offense, that is where I would be looking if either player is still available in your leagues.

However, if those two aren’t an option, we run into a real issue from a fantasy football perspective.

Who to start at wide receiver in Week 5 with Colts‘ Alec Pierce out?

Typically, the next man up would be AD Mitchell, who brings an impressive combination of route running and speed to the receiver position. This allows him to make an impact and generate big plays from all levels of the field.

But following Mitchell’s touchdown-turned-fumble against the Rams, Shane Steichen has been non-committal about his playing time this week.

“(We’re) Working through that,” Steichen said on Friday when asked about Mitchell’s playing time.

So if we are uncertain about Mitchell’s status, that would mean the next man up is Ashton Dulin. With Dulin, he can fill a variety of receiver roles and provides some stability at the position, but in terms of putting up big fantasy points, he’s not likely to provide that element.

So, again, we circle back to the original question: What should you do since Pierce is out?

Well, like I said, unless Warren or Downs are options, there’s too much uncertainty elsewhere to bank on a reliable fantasy football contribution this week.
