As the New York Giants navigate the aftermath of wide receiver Malik Nabers’ season-ending torn ACL in Week 4, the team is aggressively scouting talent to reinforce its passing attack and depth.
On Friday, the Giants hosted a series of free agent workouts, targeting wide receivers and quarterbacks to address immediate and long-term needs. Among the attendees was former Cleveland Browns sixth-round pick Mike Woods II, whose blend of size, speed, and untapped potential makes him a compelling option for Big Blue.

The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Woods was selected by the Browns in the 2022 NFL draft (202nd overall) out of Oklahoma. His rookie year showed flashes of promise with five receptions for 45 yards, primarily contributing on special teams.
However, setbacks followed: a ruptured Achilles in April 2023 sidelined Woods for the entire season, and a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy further delayed his momentum.
Woods rebounded in 2024, appearing in limited action and boosting his career totals to 12 catches for 110 yards. Waived by Cleveland in July with an injury designation, the 25-year-old remains a high-upside prospect. Scouts praise his route-running polish and deep-threat ability — hallmarks from his college days, where he amassed over 1,000 yards in his final season.
For a Giants offense seeking explosive playmakers, Woods could provide cost-effective depth behind Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt.

Joining Woods were fellow wideouts Samori Toure, Rakim Jarrett, and Brandon Johnson.
Toure, a 27-year-old seventh-rounder from Nebraska, brings NFL experience with 13 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown across 22 games with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. The 6-foot-1 slot specialist impressed against the Giants last season, snagging two catches for 22 yards, including a career-high 13 yards after the catch.
Jarrett, a speedy undrafted free agent from Maryland (4.44 40-yard dash), and Johnson, a physical UCF product previously with the Pittsburgh Steelers, add versatility to the mix.
The Giants also evaluated quarterbacks Seth Henigan, Memphis’ record-setting passer with over 14,000 college yards, and Tanner Mordecai, SMU’s and Wisconsin’s prolific gunslinger who spent time on the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad.
None were immediately signed to a contract.
