Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo spoke with reporters before practice on Friday, discussing the threat of Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. in their Week 5 matchup.
“Really good player (Brian Thomas Jr.). I think they’re finding ways to get it last week; they certainly found ways to get it to him. I mean, he’s a guy we’ve got to be concerned with. He had a great year. It was his rookie year. Yeah, and he kind of jumped out there,” said Spagnuolo, “We didn’t play him, obviously. It seems like every team has one little skilled wideout that we have to worry about, and then you add the young kid in number 12 (Travis Hunter), who I think gets better and better every week. I think they got the makings of a really good offense. And it’s kind of been proven by the number of points.”
Thomas finished last season with 87 receptions for 1,282 receiving yards and ten receiving touchdowns. He set Jaguars rookie records for all three while finishing third in the league in receiving yards, and he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
