The 2025 NFL season is in full swing, and the newest crop of rookies is already making their mark on the league. From wide receiver Emeka Egbuka of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to tight end Tyler Warren of the Indianapolis Colts, The Athletic has made their early All-Rookie team for 2025.
The lone Denver Bronco on the list is rookie punter Jeremy Crawshaw. Crawshaw has a booming leg, and has already helped the stingy Denver defense by putting their opponents with their backs against the wall. Crawshaw has punted 17 times (tied for sixth-most), 804 yards (sixth-most), an early long of 62 yards, averaging 47.5 yards a punt (14th), and an NFL-most 10 punts inside the 20.

Crawshaw wasn’t exactly eye-catching in the preseason, something that Broncos‘ special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi acknowledged. “It was such a small sample size in those preseason games, and we were kind of working on some things,” Rizzi said last week. “I think he’s done a really good job of locating the ball down when we’re near midfield, locating the ball down inside the 20, that’s been a real strength to his. He’s had some really good hang time punts. There have been a couple of locations that we haven’t been too crazy about, but his hang time, ironically enough, the one return we gave up was actually a really good location kick. That wasn’t on him. That was more on the coverage.”
Crawshaw still has room to grow, and will likely have good days and bad days. It’s all part of being new to the NFL. “Like any rookie, there are going to be some peaks and valleys at any position,” Rizzi said. “I think he’s starting to kind of get into a little bit of a groove. He’s starting to get a little bit more consistent. I think these experiences for him are really, really important to go through it. I think we all know right from the beginning, if you watched him at any point, you knew the talent was there. It’s a matter of bringing it to the game. At that position, probably more than most, kicker and punter, the consistency is the most important thing. So we just have to keep him kind of on par [with] where he’s been. He’s really helped our team through three games with the field position. The last couple of weeks, we’ve won the field position battle. I think it’s one of the reasons we’ve been in these games. So that has to continue.”
Crawshaw has done a great job bouncing back after an underwhelming preseason. He’ll look to keep the positive momentum going when the Broncos go on the road to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.
